Energy systems are the most influent sector in greenhouse gas emission inventories and normally generate over 90 percent of the CO2 emissions and 75 percent of the total greenhouse emissions in developed countries. Stationary combustion is typically for about 70 percent of greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector. About 50 percent of these emissions are related to combustion in energy industries mostly power plant and refineries. About 25 percent of the emissions in the energy sector are caused by mobile combustion (road and other traffic). In aspect of fuel combustion activities, the energy sector can be divided to 1) energy industries 2) manufacturing industries and construction 3) transport 4) other sectors 5) non-specified.
